Prospective StudentsIt is essential that prospective students, whether first time freshmen, or transfer students from Community College or other four year schools, contact the Disability Resource Center (DRC) as early as possible in the process of applying to San Jose State. To be eligible for services from the DRC, it is necessary to provide an appropriate professional or medical verification of disability. This information should be submitted directly to the DRC where confidential files are kept, not sent to the Admissions Office with the university application and other documents required for admission such as transcripts and test scores. Students interested in San Jose State University will have the support and experienced advisement of the DRC staff in making the decision to enroll at SJSU. Campus tours can be arranged, meetings with major departments and faculty can be facilitated and the many questions all new students have to ask can be addressed by professional staff of the DRC. All students must meet the usual admissions criteria. Please address questions regarding these issues to the advisor at DRC, to your high school guidance counselor, or to the transfer center at your community college. For students who do not meet normal admissions criteria, there is possible case-by-case consideration for exceptional admissions. Contact the advisor at DRC for further information on this subject. Exceptional Admissions Committee(EAC)The Disability Resource Center (DRC) practices FERPA and does not directly involve parents in student decision making. The DRC does not accept 504 plans or IEPs.
