Typing Services

Students requesting typing services must be registered with the Disability Resource Center and present documentation of mobility issues or other disability factors which prevent them from completing course assignments requiring keyboard entry. Eligibility for this service is determined on a case-by-case basis. Students must meet the Associate Director or a Coordinator each semester the service is needed. The DRC will provide the typing service through the AMC. Students are required to present the DRC with a copy of the course syllabus for each course they are requesting typing service.

Students are responsible for providing specific formatting directions, including the style guide (APA, Turbian, MLA, etc.) to be followed. Typing service does not include proofreading or editing. Students are responsible for submitting materials to be typed in a timely manner to ensure completion of assignments by the requested date. This includes allowance of time for revisions. Students can speak with the Accommodations Coordinator regarding concerns they may have with the completed assignment.

Typing services are provided for San José State University curriculum support only; they are not provided for personal need. The DRC reserves the right to discontinue service if any of the above, or a combination of the above, are violated or abused.
